Older Windows and Mac apps do not upgrade to the new app automatically. Removing an old app does not delete your Perplexity account, Projects, or cloud-based threads.
Windows
The old Windows app will stop working on October 15, 2026.
Install the new app from the Perplexity platforms page. You can also use the direct Windows download or install it from the Microsoft Store.
Open the new app and sign in to the same Perplexity account.
Confirm that your existing work is there, then remove the old app from Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
Mac
Install the new app from the Perplexity platforms page, or use the direct Mac download.
Open the new app and sign in to the same Perplexity account.
Confirm that your existing work is there, then open Applications in Finder and remove the old Mac App Store copy.
